Growing up, I always felt like the ugly duckling in my family. Not because I didn’t look like the rest, but because I didn’t think like rest. I was artistic and liked things no one else in my family had any interest in.
I remember my siblings saying things like, “Why do you have to be so different?” There’d be times when I would go into my room and cry because I didn’t feel like I fit in.
Today, I realize I’m not supposed to fit in. God made me this way for a specific purpose. He made me unique so that I could have an unorthodox ministry that would shake the very foundations of Satan’s kingdom.
He made me different because I am supposed to grow His kingdom in a different way than anyone else has before me. My family thought I was strange, peculiar if you will, because eyes have not seen and ears have not heard what God has planned for me.
For a long time in ministry, I tried to fit in or meet industry standards, but it is my authenticity that harnesses the potential God placed in me and breaks the ministry barrier. No one else can tell me what the right move is, no one but The One who created me.
Today, I am FREE to Be… Unorthodox, and I will not fit in!
I Will Not Fit In
I am a preacher, a teacher, an activist, a helper, an artist, a life carrier, a poet, a girl, a seamstress, a sister, a friend. If you try to put me in a box… I… Will… Not… Fit… In!
I carry salvation on my lips and education on my fingertips, all while pouring out social justice, hips broad from bearing life and carrying the burdens of my sister friends. If you try to put me in a box… I… Will… Not… Fit… In!
I create pictures of the future and he is known in the gates because he waits upon my wisdom, honey flows from my teeth, the sun has kissed my skin. If you try to put me in a box… I… Will… Not… Fit… In!
I Am a Woman! Complex and beautiful, terminal and astute. You full your bellies of my gifts, yet sift what I deserve. The nerve! But still I exude without excuse or apologies the excellence placed in me no matter the dismissal of my above average faculties. You will not win! For when you try to put me in a box… I… Will… Not… Fit… In!
