FREE to Be… Bold
There are a few stories in the Bible that caught me off guard when I first read them. The daughters of Zelophehad is one of those stories.
The section that contains their story found in chapter 36 of the book of Numbers is entitled Women Who Inherit Property. When I read that, I immediately perked up. Women who owned property in a time and culture where women owned nothing… not even themselves? How could this be?
As I read, I began to see these women boldly standing before the man of God.
“Sir, the Lord instructed you to divide the land by sacred lot among the people of Israel. You were told by the Lord to give the grant of land owned by our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.” (Num. 36:2)
I heard it like, “Sir, that’s our land. God said so. We’ve come to claim what is ours.”
These bold women were FREE to Be… bold because they stood on God’s word. They unflinchingly asked for what was theirs in a society where their request could easily have been denied. Together they went to stake claim to what God had ordained for them.
How long have you been sitting around waiting for someone to give you what God already declared is yours? If He spoke it, it is!
We can be FREE to Be… Bold when the leverage we have is God’s.
Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah not only got their land, but they were also numbered in the begats found in Numbers 26. This is significant because the begats contain the names of the men of Israel, with the exception of an elite group of women who made it into the bloodline of the King of Kings.
But here they are, numbered with the men and this extraordinary class of women. Why? Because they were bold enough to stand on God’s word in their lives.
Who will stand against the Lord? No one can! No one will! Victory belongs to Jesus, so victory belongs to you!
Don’t wait. If God has spoken into your life, in 2017 you need to go get what’s yours. Don’t worry about the roadblocks. Those are just catapults.
