Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also, and he praises her. Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all. Proverbs 31:28 & 29

I’d been chasing this Proverbs woman for about 10 years. Why? Cuz she’s a BOSS!

Depicted here we find a woman that can do it all. The Bible says her husband’s heart safely trusts in her. Why? She’s a BOSS.

Her children rise up and call her blessed! Why? She’s a BOSS. This woman epitomizes a strong, capable, smart, kind, selfless, extraordinary woman. And she did it all from home.

We live in a world where some women’s libers will tell you being at home is a condition for a domesticated woman who has lost sight of herself somewhere along the lines. They’ll tell you that she is controlled by her husband and has little to call her own. “She’s oppressed,” some have said.

The Proverbs 31 woman says, “I am a BOSS who works from home. I am not oppressed. I am not controlled by anyone… but God. I am fulfilled, and I am living every dream I have ever had… in my pajamas!”

This woman made her husband renowned. She made her children secure. She created. She multiplied. She worked hard. This woman is EVERYTHING!

I chased her. Oh, how I chased her. Checklisting all the while so I wouldn’t miss a thing. Sewing… check. Cooking… check. Managing house well… check. Healthy family… check. I wanted to ensure I  was becoming her.

For many years it seemed like a futile effort because there was always something undone. Then it happened. I read the rest of the passage with new eyes.

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30

Suddenly I was free to abandon my checklist. I asked the Holy Spirit to reign supreme in my life. I let the Lord be my Lord, not just my Savior.

It was then that I began turning into this BOSS, this Proverbs 31 woman, who seemingly could do it all. Not because I tried to finish a list, but because I opened my heart to the leading of my Lord. And He has been leading me to my destiny ever since.

It’s going to take faith to loose the reigns of your life. See, there have been times when He led me to turn down a job that I thought would have made me a BOSS. When He led me to be at home, I thought, how can I be a BOSS from here? I knew I was born to lead. How could I lead from what seemed like the back of the pack?

Everywhere He led me, whether I understood it or not, led me to this place. No matter where He is leading you, will you go knowing that everywhere with Jesus is safe to go?

I encourage you, as 2017 approaches, free yourself to be a BOSS by letting the Holy Spirit take the wheel and navigate the course.
